The following fine arts events are being held on-campus this weekend:
Tubonium March 18-19, 2011
The Schaefer Fine Arts Center is hosting the annual Tubonium on March 18-19, 2011. Hosted by Gustavus music faculty member Paul Budde, the festival features numerous guest solo performances, ensembles, master classes, and demonstrations/exhibitions. The festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, March 18 and from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, March 19.
Sessions and performances, in Gustavus’s Björling Recital Hall and Schaefer Fine Arts Center, on Friday and Saturday are open to the public but there is a charge of $25 per person day or $35 per person for both days. A detailed 2011 Tubonium schedule may be obtained from pbudde@gustavus.edu.
The Gustavus and Vasa Wind Orchestras Concert March 18
The two orchestras, conducted by Douglas Nimmo, will perform in Christ Chapel on March 18th at 7:30-9:30 pm. Performance is open to the public at no charge.
Various Fine Arts Recitals on Sunday, March 20
Junior voice and piano student Devon Marschall will perform in Björling Recital Hall on March 20 at 1:30-3 p.m. She will be accompanied by Sam Grace.
A faculty recital will take place in Björling Recital Hall on on March 20 at 3:30-4:40 p.m. featuring Gustavus flute instructor Emily Sapa.
Juniors Brittney Raasch and Cory Ruegg present a joint instrumental recital in Björling Recital Hall, accompanied by pianist Brenda Moore. The recital will take place on March 20 at 7:30-9 p.m.
