Weekend of Arts, March 4-6

Come to Gustavus this weekend for the annual spring dance concert, highlighting faculty and student work, and for two faculty piano recitals. All of these events are open to the public.

Here are the Fine Arts events happening on campus this weekend:

Dance Performance March 4-6

The Department of Theatre and Dance is presenting Balance Off Center: The Gustavus Dance Company in Concert on March 4 and 5, 2011 at 8 p.m. and March 6, 2011 at 2 p.m.

The annual spring dance concert is co-directed by Assistant Professor Melissa Rolnick and Visiting Assistant Professor Jeffrey Peterson.  The concert includes a diverse range of choreography by faculty, selected students, and guest artists including Joe Chvala and members of the Stuart Pimsler Dance and Theatre company.

Tickets are required and available online at www.gustavustickets.com as well as at the Anderson Theatre box office, starting one hour before each performance.

Piano Recitals Friday and Sunday

Well-known St. Peter pianist, teacher, and accompanist Beth Winterfeldt will present a faculty piano recital in Jussi Björling Recital Hall on Friday, March 4, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. For this performance, Winterfeldt has invited Mankato-area pianist David Viscoli and Gustavus violist Justin Knoepfel to assist.

Helen and Paul Baumgartner, faculty emeriti of the Department of Music at Gustavus, will present a four-hand piano recital Sunday, March 6, 2011 beginning at 3:30 p.m. in Jussi Björling Recital Hall. The recital includes works by Brahms, Warlock, and Schubert.

Both recitals are free and open to the public.
