Robert O. Berdahl, a 1990 alumnus of Gustavus Adolphus College is currently starring in the Guthrie Theatre production of The 39 Steps.
Combining a spy thriller with farcical comedy and ingenious theatrical invention, The 39 Steps is an engaging, fast-paced whodunit that celebrates the magic of theater. Closely following the storyline of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1935 film, the play features more than 150 characters brought to life by a cast of just four actors including Berdahl as the intrepid hero Richard Hannay.
The 39 Steps will show at the Guthrie Theatre from Oct. 30 through Dec. 19 on the McGuire Proscenium Stage.
After earning his bachelor’s degree from Gustavus in music and theatre, Berdahl continued his education at the California Institute of the Arts. He has played roles in at least 20 Guthrie Theater productions including Amadeus, Pride and Predjudice, Othello, Death of a Salesman, The Great Gatsby, and Macbeth.
