Women’s Golf Captures Third Straight MIAC Title

The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s golf team won the 2010 MIAC Women’s Golf Championship for the third year in a row on Monday, Oct. 4 at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minn.

Gustavus senior Katie Schenfeld won her second straight individual MIAC title earlier this week.

The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s golf team won the 2010 MIAC Women’s Golf Championship for the third year in a row on Monday, Oct. 4 at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minn.  

The Gusties took the team title after recording a three-day score of 974 (+110).  St. Olaf finished a distant second, 46 strokes behind Gustavus at 1,200 (+156). St. Benedict finished third at 1,030 (+166). With the victory, Gustavus earn a berth into the NCAA Championships this spring. 

Gustavus senior Katie Schenfeld, the reigning MIAC individual medalist, defended her title to become first back-to-back MIAC Champion in Gustavus history after shooting a 224 (+8). Schenfeld was joined on the podium by teammate Taylor Drenttel, who finished runner-up for the second consecutive year. Drentell shot a three day total of 239 (+23), turning in a low round of 76 on day three.  Kayleigh Dittes cracked the top-ten with a ninth place finish after firing a 256 (+40).
