Gustavus Adolphus College recently earned recognition as a top social media innovator in higher education according to the website CollegeSurfing.com. Gustavus is one of nine Gold Medal Winners and among an elite list of 50 colleges and universities that are considered gold, silver, or bronze worthy by the website.
Gustavus is ranked No. 7 on the list with schools such as Tufts University, Johns Hopkins University, Ithaca College, and Yale University ranked ahead of it.
According to CollegeSurfing.com, Gustavus “gets props for tweeting fun videos like 2009 Commencement in Less Than One Minute and Gustie Rouser by the Greeters. Gustavus Adolphus might be a mouthful to say, but there’s plenty of easy chatter in its Twitter stream about all that’s happening on campus. Add to this a strong presence on LinkedIn and Flickr, and you’ve got a school that knows how to work the Web.”
Gustavus is the only Minnesota college or university on the list which rewarded schools with active Twitter feeds, fan-packed Facebook pages, creative YouTube videos, and compelling blogs. The full list of schools can be viewed online at www.collegesurfing.com/content/web-20-colleges/.
