The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s basketball team beat Concordia College 57-54 in overtime on Saturday, Dec. 5 when junior guard Phil Wirtjes hit a shot from just beyond half court as time expired.
The game was tied at 54 with 0.8 seconds remaining when junior guard Dan Schmidtknecht found Wirtjes near half court with an inbounds pass. Wirtjes turned and fired the 50-foot shot which found the bottom of the net as the horn sounded.
