Poets Deborah Keenan and Joyce Sutphen will speak at the Gustavus Library Associates’ Spring Author Day at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 7 at the Edina Country Club.
Sutphen, an associate professor of English at Gustavus, has published several collections of poetry including the anthology “To Sing Along the Way: Minnesota Women Poets from Pre-Territorial Days to the Present” (2006), which she co-edited. Sutphen’s other collections include “Straight Out of View” (1995), “Coming Back to the Body” (2000), “Naming the Stars” (2004), and “Fourteen Sonnets” (2005). Her awards include the Eunice Tietjen’s Memorial Prize from Poetry magazine, a Loft-McKnight Artist Fellowship, a Minnesota State Arts Board Fellowship, and a grant from the Jerome Foundation.
Keenan is a professor for the Graduate School of Liberal Studies at Hamline University. She is the author of eight collections of poetry, including her latest publication “Willow Room, Green Door: New and Selected Poems” (2007). She has received two Bush Foundation Fellowships, a Loft-McKnight Award of Distinction, and a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.

The cost for the event is $20 per person and includes brunch and an opportunity to have books signed by the two authors.
