Martha Serpas will vist Gustavus April 19-23

Martha Serpas, the author of a collection of poems titled, Cote Blanche, will visit Gustavus Adolphus College April 19-23 as part of the Artist-in-Residence program of Christ Chapel.

During her time at Gustavus, Serpas will work on her craft, visit classes, serve as a resource to the campus community, and deliver the homily at daily chapel service on Monday, April 21.

Serpas is currently an associate professor of English at the University of Tampa. She published her second volume of poetry, The Dirty Side of the Storm, in October 2006. Her work has also been published in the Winter 2006 issue of 2River, Harold Bloom’s 2006 anthology American Religious Poems, and a 2005 issue of The New Yorker.

Raised in Galliano, La., Serpas received a B.A. from Louisiana State University and subsequently graduated from New York University (M.A.), Yale Divinity School (M.Div.), and the University of Houston (Ph.D.).
