The annual Christmas in Christ Chapel celebration at Gustavus Adolphus College will be held Nov. 30-Dec. 2. The theme for this year’s service is “The Word Becomes Flesh.” Tickets are still available for the 7:30 p.m. service on Sunday, Dec. 2. All other services and all Christmas buffets are sold out.

A Gustavus tradition since 1973, Christmas in Christ Chapel is an opportunity for students, their parents, faculty and staff members, alumni, and others to gather and celebrate the birth of Christ with music and visual art.

Approximately 350 students, faculty, and staff bring this program to life each year, sharing music, dances, spoken word, and prayer with the Gustavus community. Performing will be the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra, the Gustavus Choir, the Choir of Christ Chapel, Christ Chapel Ringers, Lucia Singers, and brass and dance ensembles.

“For 35 years, Christmas in Christ Chapel has been a place of pilgrimage and prayer for thousands of people preparing for the Nativity of our Lord,” Chaplain Brian Johnson said. “This year’s liturgy draws on how the Word becomes flesh: how the spaces within Holy Scriptures beckon poets, musicians, artists, and dancers to imagine and embody the narratives related to the birth of Christ.”

Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30; at 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1; and 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2. For ticket reservations, contact the Office for College Relations at 507-933-7520.
