Student Produced Documentary Addresses Immigration Issues Posted on March 13th, 2007 by

A documentary produced by four Gustavus Adolphus College students addressing immigration issues in America will premiere at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 14 in Wallenberg Auditorium, located in the Alfred Nobel Memorial Hall of Science. The documentary is titled “The Changing Face of America,” and its run time is approximately 35 minutes.

Gustavus students Chris Bacon, Matt Fillmore, Siddarth Selvaraj, and Michael Sielaff set out on a month-long journey during the college’s January Interim Experience, that took them more than 5,000 miles to places including Chicago, New York, Washington, D.C., New Orleans, Texas, and Mexico.

The intent of these student producers was to gather different opinions from people across the country on the economic, social, and political aspects of immigration and bring the opinions back to the Gustavus community and others for further discussion.

Topics addressed in the documentary include higher education opportunities and challenges for illegal aliens, border patrol activities, the idea of building a wall along the United States and Mexico borders and more.
