Thirty-fourth Annual Christmas in Christ Chapel Posted on November 14th, 2006 by

Christmas in Christ Chapel at Gustavus Adolphus College will be held Dec. 1-3.

A Gustavus tradition since 1973, Christmas in Christ Chapel is an opportunity for students, their parents, faculty members, staff, and alumni to gather and celebrate the birth of Christ with music and visual art.

This year’s service, “An American Odyssey,” explores how journals, diaries, and artistic voices in North America have reflected on the birth of Christ. Through Scripture and narrative, with music from the oldest of American hymnals to the creativity of living composers and arrangers, worshipers will travel a geography of heritage and discovery.

Performing will be the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra, the Gustavus Choir, the Choir of Christ Chapel, Christ Chapel Ringers, Lucia Singers, brass ensembles, and dancers.

Tickets are still available for the 7:30 p.m. services on Friday, Dec. 1 and Sunday, Dec. 3. The service is approximately two hours in length and costs $15 per person. Tickets for the service are limited. For ticket information, contact the Office of College Relations/Special Events at (507) 933-7520.

For additional information on this year’s theme and program, contact Chaplain Brian Johnson, creative director for the service, at (507) 933-7446.
