Evelyn "Ma" Young dies at age 93

Evelyn Sponberg Young, belovedly called "Ma Young" for decades at Gustavus Adolphus College, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005 at home in Edina. She was 93.

The 11th Annual Chicano/Latino College Fair will be held at Gustavus Adolphus College on October 14, 2005. The purpose of the College Fair is to empower Chicano/Latino students throughout the Region Nine Area to pursue post-secondary education.

With Record Enrollment, New Academic Year Begins

Gustavus Adolphus College will begin its 144th academic year Wednesday, Sept. 7 when classes begin for the college's expected 2,570 full-time students. Approximately 710 first-year students are enrolled at Gustavus this fall — constituting the largest incoming class in the college's history.*

Gustavus Adolphus College seniors Amanda Lodermeier and Carl Ferkinhoff have been accepted into Teach For America, the national corps of outstanding college graduates of all academic majors who commit two years to teach in urban and rural public schools.

Graduating senior wins Fulbright

Aaron Flohrs, a 2005 graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College from Ormsby, Minn., has won a prestigious Fulbright Fellowship to conduct research in Switzerland on the World Trade Organization.

Commencement Exercises May 29 at Gustavus Adolphus College

At 2 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 584 seniors will receive bachelor of arts degrees from Gustavus Adolphus College during commencement exercises on Hollingsworth Stadium (Lund Center for Physical Education and Health if inclement weather).
