Russell Shapiro, assistant professor of geology at Gustavus Adolphus College, will present his research on stromatolites, rock structures built by bacteria, at the 39th annual meeting of the North-Central Section of the Geological Society of America.

This May 4, 2005, Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, Minn., will hold its annual MAYDAY! Peace Conference, titled "Energy for Peace" with speakers Mark Hertsgaard and Terry Tempest Williams. The event is expected to attract nearly 1,000 attendees.

Johanna Johnson, a senior at Gustavus Adolphus College, will perform her final recital on April 29 — accompanied by Joe Robinson, principal oboist for the New York Philharmonic. Johnson and Robinson have remained in close contact following their 1999 meeting through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Science on Saturday at Gustavus Adolphus College

St. Peter students from grades 1 through 6 are invited to join the Gustavus Adolphus College science department for Science on Saturday, a half-day event featuring science experiments and demonstrations, on Saturday, April 30.
