Ellis Jones, emeritus professor of economics and management at Gustavus Adolphus College and recently retired as international director of the Welsh National Gymanfa Ganu Association (WNNGA), was recently honored at the closing ceremonies of the 2003 North American Festival of Wales in Richmond, Vancouver, B.C. Lynn Owens-Whalen, international president of the WNGGA, marked Jones’ retirement by presenting him with a Certificate of Appreciation for Distinguished Services as executive director from 1998-2003 and a print of a painting titled “Market Day in Wales” by C. Curnon Vosper. The print was signed by all members of the WNGGA Board of Trustees and the international headquarters staff.
Since retiring from the Gustavus faculty in 1998, Jones has been the international executive director of the organization with the responsibility for managing the central headquarters on the Gustavus campus during that time. The new executive director, John Ellis from Michigan, maintains the headquarters Flint, Mich.
Earlier this summer, members of the Minnesota Welsh community and the St. Peter community, as well as the international headquarters staff, honored Jones at a dinner. He was presented with a “Memories Notebook,” with letters and cards sent in by WNGGA members from across the United States and Canada.
