Gustavus Adolphus College students in Alisa Rosenthal’s January Interim Experience course are using unique role-playing games through a program called Reacting to the Past to debate things such as social changes in early 20th century New York City and the development of India as an independent nation in the post-World War II era.

Associate Professor of Political Science Kate Knutson is one of many faculty members at Gustavus Adolphus College who is impacting the lives of students both in and out of the classroom.

Alisa Rosenthal, Associate Professor of Political Science at Gustavus Adolphus College, received the 2012 Edgar M. Carlson Award for Distinguished Teaching during the College’s commencement exercises on Sunday, May 27. Rosenthal was presented the award by the 2011 recipient, Professor of Nursing Barbara Zust.

Professor of Biology John Lammert and Associate Professor of Political Science Richard Leitch are both included in the Princeton Review’s latest publication, The Best 300 Professors. The book was published on Tuesday, April 3, and profiles 300 outstanding professors at 122 colleges across the country.

At just 25 years of age, Gustavus alumna Carla Shutrop is making her life count by serving on the school board in her hometown of Shakopee. In the middle of her first four-year term, Shutrop has been elected chair of the board by her peers.

Gustavus Adolphus College junior Kayla Joachim has been awarded an $8,000 Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to study abroad this spring semester in the United Arab Emirates.
