Pearl Leonard-Rock recently joined the staff at Gustavus Adolphus College as Director of Multicultural Programs and the Diversity Center. After serving at Edgewood College for the past 12 years, Leonard-Rock began her new duties on July 1.

Gustavus Adolphus College alumna Erin Luhmann ’08 has spent the past week traveling through parts of northern Africa with New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof. Luhmann earned the right to join Kristof in Africa this summer when she won his annual Win-a-Trip Contest in February.

The 49th annual Nobel Conference at Gustavus Adolphus College will be held Oct. 1-2, and is titled “The Universe at Its Limits.” This year’s conference will address some of the most fundamental questions of science: What is the universe made of? Where did it come from? Where is it going?

Gustavus Adolphus College Professor of Physics Tom Huber is the lead author on a $500,000 grant recently awarded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). The grant will fund a three-year collaborative project with Gustavus and modal analysis researchers at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.

Moody’s Investors Service affirmed its A3 long-term rating with a stable outlook on Gustavus Adolphus College’s Revenue Bonds issued through the Minnesota Higher Education Facilities Authority.

Gustavus Adolphus College Professor Emeritus Bruce McClain taught in the College’s Art and Art History Department for 46 years from 1965 to 2011. On Thursday, June 20, Mankato Free Press reporter Tanner Kent featured McClain and a current exhibition of his work that is on display at the Waseca Arts Center.
