Dr. Stephen Zunes, one of the country’s leading scholars on U.S. Middle East policy and of strategic nonviolent action, will deliver Gustavus Adolphus College’s annual Raoul Wallenberg Memorial Lecture at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28 in the Nobel Hall of Science’s Wallenberg Auditorium.

Gustavus Receives Grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation

Gustavus Adolphus College has been awarded a three-year, $100,000 grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The College plans to use the funding to support the development of January term courses for students in their second year.

English Professor Joyce Sutphen Appears on A Prairie Home Companion

Gustavus Adolphus College Professor of English Joyce Sutphen was a guest on Garrison Keillor’s live radio variety show, A Prairie Home Companion, on Saturday, Oct. 18. Keillor recited Sutphen’s poem “Girl on a Tractor”, while Sutphen read several of her poems including “Autumn Again”, “My Legendary Father”, “A Dream of Empty Fields”, and “Say It”.

Undefeated Football Team to Host No. 22 St. John’s

The Gustavus Adolphus College football team is off to a 6-0 start for the first time since 1987–the last year that the program won the MIAC title. The team’s schedule gets significantly tougher starting this Saturday when the Gusties will host No. 22 ranked St. John’s at 1 p.m. at Hollingsworth Field.
