Carolyn Draayer ’15 Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
Gustavus Adolphus College senior Carolyn Draayer is one of 58 winter sports student-athletes to receive a postgraduate scholarship from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Draayer is the 36th Gustavus student-athlete to receive an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.
Men’s Soccer Wins MIAC Playoff Title
The Gustavus Adolphus College men's soccer team defeated St. John's University 2-0 in the MIAC Playoff Championship on Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Gustie Soccer Field. With the win, the Gusties earn the automatic berth from the MIAC to the 2014 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament.
Gustavus to Induct Nine New Members into Athletics Hall of Fame
The Gustavus Adolphus College Athletics Department has selected nine individuals for induction into its Athletics Hall of Fame. This group will be honored at the Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet, which will be held in Alumni Hall at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, following the Hall of Fame football game between the Gusties and Bethel University set to take place at 1 p.m. on Hollingsworth Field.
Two Alumni Inducted Into USA Bandy Hall of Fame
Former Gustavus Adolphus men’s hockey players Chris Middlebrook ’79 and Chris Halden ’78 have been inducted into the United States Bandy Hall of Fame. As part of USA Bandy Hall of Fame’s inaugural class, Middlebrook and Halden were two of six individuals inducted at a ceremony held Wednesday, Oct. 22 at the Aster Café in Minneapolis.
Dubose and Tinklenberg Named 2013-14 Gustavus Student-Athletes of the Year
To officially close the 2013-14 academic year, the Gustavus Adolphus Sports Information Department is proud to announce senior football player Jeffrey Dubose and senior swimmer Alissa Tinklenberg as this season’s Male and Female Student-Athletes of the Year.
Gustavus Senior Interning for Minor League Baseball Team
This fall, senior Beau Bachman '14 will be a key player for the Gustavus football team, but this summer he is busy interning with the Arkansas Travelers, a minor league baseball affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Charles Aydt Named Head Gymnastics Coach
Gustavus Adolphus College has named Charles Aydt as head coach of its gymnastics team. Aydt brings over 35 years of coaching experience to Gustavus, where he will be the fifth head coach in the program’s history. He takes over for Katie Olson who served as interim head coach for the 2012-13 school year.
Football Team Wins Season Opener
The Gustavus Adolphus football team kicked off its 2012 season with a 35-26 win over Simpson College on Saturday afternoon at Bill Buxton Stadium. Gustavus was able to capitalize on Simpson’s mistakes throughout the day, scoring two defensive touchdowns and forcing a total of five turnovers.
Football Team to Open 2012 Season Saturday
The Gustavus football team will open the 2012 regular season with a non-conference road test against Simpson College at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 in Indianola, Iowa.
