During the past several weeks, five Gustavus Adolphus College student-athletes have been selected to academic all-american teams by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and ESPN The Magazine.
Gustavus now ranks seventh all-time among Division III schools with 80 CoSIDA Academic All-America selections. Only the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Augustana (Ill.), Illinois Wesleyan, Emory, Nebraska Wesleyan, and Washington University (Mo.) have had more.
Gustavus also ranks seventh among all Divisions (I, II, and III) in the number of Academic All-Americans since 2000 with 48.
The five student-athletes that were recently honored include softball player Rachael Click, swimmer Dave Pearson, hockey player David Martinson, golfer Kimbra Kosak, and hockey player Melissa Mackley.
Click was named to the first team of the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America softball squad. It is the third consecutive year that Click has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team and the second consecutive year she has been a first team selection.
Mackley is a first team selection and Kosak is a second team selection on the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Women’s At-Large Team.
Pearson is a first team selection and Martinson is a third team selection on the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Men’s At-Large Team.
