A new college and university safety video titled “Stay Safe at College,” which will be released internationally, will premiere at Gustavus Adolphus College at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24 in Wallenberg Auditorium, located in the College’s Alfred Nobel Memorial Hall of Science.

Produced by the St. Paul-based company 360° Stay Safe, it was filmed at Gustavus using Gustavus students. The film — available in DVD and online formats — provides useful, practical information, and advice for the real situations college and university students can face on campus, including theft, sexual assaults, campus shootings, identity theft, and threats that can come from online and social networking webs sites like MySpace, Facebook, and Friendster. Gustavus, Concordia College, Moorhead, and the University of St. Thomas have already purchased the film.

“My career in campus public safety has spanned more than 30 years, and 360’s “Stay Safe at College” is one of the best-researched, best-produced programs I’ve ever seen,” said Ray Thrower, director of safety and security at Gustavus. “This is an invaluable tool for helping students and campuses be more aware and better prepared today.” Thrower is the immediate past president of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators.

The film is divided into seven chapters that address the following topics: Protect your Possessions and Identity, Student Assaults, Controlling Behavior, Stalking, Everyday Safety, Common-Sense Defense, and Safe Travel. Content of the film is based on in-depth research and discussions with college and university students, parents, and campus public safety leaders.
