Barbara Larson Taylor has recently been named assistant to the president for special projects at Gustavus Adolphus College. Larson Taylor, a 1993 Gustavus graduate, has worked as associate director of alumni relations at the College since 1994.

Larson Taylor’s first assignment in this new position will be to serve as executive director of Commission Gustavus 150, a major Board of Trustees initiative to chart the College’s future and plan for its Sesquicentennial in 2012.

Larson Taylor will oversee all logistical aspects of Commission Gustavus 150, including managing and coordinating task force and summit meetings as well as communicating with the College’s constituents to ensure that all aspects of Commission Gustavus 150 work together successfully. In overseeing Gustavus Commission 150, Larson Taylor said: “I am excited for this unique opportunity in the life of the College — my alma mater — that will move us from planning to action.”

“Barb Larson Taylor will be an asset to the College in this role because she already has strong relationships with Gustavus alumni, students, faculty, and staff,” said President Jack R. Ohle. “I am confident that Barb’s transition to this new position will be an easy one.”

At a gala event following President Jack R. Ohle’s inauguration on Oct. 3, 2008, Gustavus Board of Trustees Chair James H. Gale announced Commission Gustavus 150. The process was established to involve all of the College’s constituents in integrating and expanding the College’s Strategic Plan and making recommendations for the College’s future advancement. The Commission will engage alumni, church leaders, community partners, faculty, staff, students and other friends, in examining the College’s Strategic Plan and the College’s rich heritage and strengths.

The Commission will comprise eight task forces, which will examine different aspects of the College’s strategic mission, core values, and future aspirations. More details about Commission Gustavus 150 are online at gustavus.edu/news/4307.
