Gustavus Adolphus College welcomes Deirdre Rosenfeld as its new Associate Dean of Students. Rosenfeld will begin her new duties on July 28.
This will be Rosenfeld’s second stint at Gustavus; she spent two years, from 1998 to 2000, working as an assistant director and area coordinator in Residential Life. Since 2000, Rosenfeld has been the director of the Women’s Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato (MSU).
At MSU, Rosenfeld coordinated programs, services, and involvement opportunities for women students, while working in partnership with campus-wide departments, faculty, and staff. She also advised several student organizations at MSU, including Straights And Gays for Equality (SAGE), Men Against Rape, a local chapter of the national sorority Sigma Sigma Sigma, feminist student organizations, and sexual violence peer education groups.
Rosenfeld has been active in the Mankato-area community by serving as a volunteer at the Blue Earth County Sexual Violence Resource Center, and as a board member for South Central Minnesota Pride, a community organization focused on issues confronted by the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender communities.
“I am eager to return to Gustavus’s engaging community of teaching and learning,” Rosenfeld said. “The campus abounds with thoughtful, versatile, committed, and joyful people, including the truly superb student affairs division. I am enthusiastic about the countless opportunities that lie ahead.”
Rosenfeld attended Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, where she obtained a B.A. in French literature and women’s studies. She earned an M.A. in college student personnel from Bowling Green State University.
