About Christmas in Christ Chapel

A tradition since 1973, Christmas in Christ Chapel is a time for the Gustavus community to celebrate the holidays with one another. Approximately 350 students, faculty, and staff bring the program to life each year through the use of music, dance, spoken word, and the visual arts. A new theme is chosen each year in order to educate participants and audiences alike about faith and theological traditions. Choirs and orchestras lead the five services, with approximately 1,100 people attending each one.

Deep appreciation is extended to the Paul and Susan Breckner family for underwriting the cost of the public television broadcast.

Grew up in Iowa (close to Wartburg College) — learned about all the great music colleges in Minnesota — lived in Minneapolis for nine years in the 70’s — just watched this year’s concert on Rocky Mountain PBS here in Denver. What a treat — what a great gift to the nation — what a inspirational pleasure to see how diverse in the best of ways your college has become. Thank you.

I just listened to the Christmas in Christ Chapel performance on my PBS station, Channel 6 in Denver. The entire concert was really beautiful as was the interior of the Chapel. I was a student at Gustavus Adolphus in 1964-65 and I recall how lovely the chapel was, more than 50 years ago. Then, students were required to attend a 20 minute service five days a week so we all spent lots of time in that Chapel. Although I only was a student one year and have never returned to the GAC campus, I have many happy memories of the year I spent there.

Thank you for the very wonderful and moving Christmas concert. What a special Christmas present for me to hear the magnificent music!

    Sincerely,

Linda E. Andrews Steamboat Springs, Colorado
