Rachel Larson, who has served Gustavus Adolphus College’s students, faculty, and staff as one of its chaplains for the past 12 years, has announced her resignation.
“Chaplain Larson has touched the lives of hundreds of students and community members in her long tenure with the College,” said President Ohle. “She will be remembered on the campus for her warmth and commitment to our students and her co-workers. We wish her well in her discernment and continued call to her ministry.”
Larson’s work with the ministry team of Christ Chapel focused on worship leadership, preaching and pastoral care with students, faculty, and staff. She collaborated with the faculty to plan a rich variety of worship and learning experiences. Larson also worked with many and various parts of student life, such as the Dean of Students Office, Center for Servant Leadership, the Counseling Center, Student Activities Office, Residential Life, Health Services and the Diversity Center to enrich the community of Gustavus.
Reverend Larson received the Eric Norelius Award in 2011, which is presented to an outstanding administrative employee who has demonstrated service and dedication to the College. Her resignation is effective immediately.
