The 11th Annual Chicano/Latino College Fair will be held at Gustavus Adolphus College on October 14, 2005. The purpose of the College Fair is to empower Chicano/Latino students throughout the Region Nine Area to pursue post-secondary education.
The college fair provides Latino students, who are often underrepresented on college campuses, an opportunity to meet with Latino professionals and to talk to representatives from many different colleges and universities. These role models provide the students with information on career aspirations, educational requirements, and opportunities.
The even is more than just a display of college recruiters promoting their schools, it’s a series of career workshops and presentations addressing the importance of education. This forum is used to motivate and empower Latino students to pursue post-secondary education.
Additionally, the fair provides an opportunity for high school counselors to meet leading Chicano/Latino educators to discuss ways to motivate and promote the benefits of post-secondary education to Latino students.
