Gustavus Adolphus College will begin its 148th academic year Tuesday, Sept. 8 when classes commence for the College’s 2,500 full-time students. Approximately 630 first-year students are enrolled at Gustavus this fall.
Move-in day for first-year students is Friday, Sept. 4 and new student orientation will run from Sept. 4-7 with activities including:
- A convocation for new students and families at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4 in Christ Chapel;
- The annual President’s Banquet at 5 p.m. followed by the traditional square dance at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5;
- The annual “E Pluribus Gustavus” diversity presentation to discuss transition and differences in lifestyles, social issues, and environmental changes at 5:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6;
- Academic success sessions in the morning and afternoon Monday, Sept. 7 in the C. Charles Jackson Campus Center;
- A back-to-school bash featuring live entertainment and a picnic-style dinner at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7 in Lund Center;
- Small group meetings led by upper class Gustie Greeters throughout orientation.
President Jack R. Ohle will welcome all students and staff back to campus with an Opening Convocation at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8 in Christ Chapel. The public is invited.
