Andrea Junso Recognized for Outstanding Programming

Director of Campus Activities Andrea Junso won the Patsy Morley Outstanding Programmer Award from the National Association for Campus Activities.

Gustavus Adolphus College Director of Campus Activities Andrea Junso was recently presented with the Patsy Morley Outstanding Programmer Award at the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) annual conference in Boston, Mass. The award was established to honor the individual who best exemplifies outstanding achievement in the field of campus activities advisement. This annual award honors the late Patsy Morley, a former chair of the NACA Board of Directors, who died in 1981.

Junso was nominated for the award both by colleagues and one former student. Her primary responsibilities as the director of campus activities include advising the Campus Activities Board, supervising first-year orientation and the Gustie Greeters, overseeing the Jackson Campus Center and Johnson Student Union, and advising Senior Week.

“Receiving this award is surreal for me,” Junso said. “My goal when I graduated undergrad and entered grad school was to make a positive difference in the lives of others and to help them believe in their gifts and talents. I had no idea how fulfilling the work and relationships I built along the way would be.”

Connor Myhre, a Gustavus senior who works closely with Junso through the Campus Activities Board and campus activities office, praised her work.

“Everything she does is groundbreaking, lovable, and just incredibly fun,” he said. “She has such a unique and personable energy that makes working with her one of the best experiences a student could be fortunate enough to have.”

While Junso is grateful for the recognition, she looks forward to continuing her work supporting students and creating dynamic, accessible programming.

“I am committed to continuing to contribute to the field of campus activities in higher education and staying relevant in a time of consistent change,” Junso said.

The National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) is the recognized leader in higher education providing knowledge, ideas, and resources for campus life.
