Chaz Brown ’11 Taking Leadership Role with Sister City Relationship

Gustavus Adolphus College alumnus Chaz Brown '11 is leading a two-week cultural/linguistic exchange program for students from Petatlán, Mexico, as part of the sister city relationship between St. Peter and Petatlán.

Gustavus Wind Orchestra Preparing for its Winter Concert Tour

The Gustavus Wind Orchestra, the nation's oldest collegiate music ensemble west of the Mississippi, will begin its 137th season with its 2015 Winter Concert Tour in Minnesota and Wisconsin. The tour begins on Feb. 1 in Long Lake, Minn., and ends with its Home Concert in Jussi Björling Recital Hall on Saturday, February 14 at 1:30 p.m. All of the concerts on the tour are free and open to the public.

Legendary Men’s Tennis Coach Steve Wilkinson Dies

Steve Wilkinson, longtime men’s tennis coach at Gustavus Adolphus College and founder of Tennis and Life Camps, passed away on Wednesday, January 21 at the age of 73 after courageously living with cancer for nearly seven years. Wilkinson spent 39 years (1971-2009) at the helm of the Gustavus men’s tennis program. His teams compiled 929 wins overall, the most victories in the history of collegiate men's tennis.

Gustavus Announces New Christenson Lectureship in Politics and Law

Gustavus Adolphus College and the Department of Political Science are pleased to announce the establishment of the Ronald S. and Kathryn K. Christenson Lectureship in Politics and Law. The lectureship is being created thanks to generous funding from Kathryn Kidd Christenson to honor her late husband, Ronald Christenson, a longtime faculty member at the College.

Gustavus Choir to Embark on Tour to Great Britain and France

The Gustavus Choir, led by Conductor Gregory Aune, will depart for London on January 16 for its first-ever concert tour in Great Britain and France. With eight concerts over 16 days, the Choir will present its 2015 program in some of the finest concert venues and cathedrals in Europe.

Gustavus Lauded for Graduating Low-Income Students

U.S. News and World Report recently used exclusive data to analyze how successful colleges and universities are at graduating low-income students. Gustavus was highlighted in the article as one of 29 “Top Performers”—schools where Pell Grant students are graduating at or close to the same rate as the overall student body.

Gustavus Earns Community Engagement Classification from Carnegie Foundation

The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has selected Gustavus Adolphus College to receive its 2015 Community Engagement Classification. Gustavus is now one of 361 campuses out of 4,634 eligible institutions of higher education in the country that have the designation.
