Gustavus to Dedicate Christ Chapel Memorial Garden on Sunday
Gustavus Adolphus College will officially dedicate the Christ Chapel Memorial Garden, a newly constructed space that includes a columbarium just to the east of Christ Chapel, during a ceremony at 11:30 a.m. following the Homecoming Worship Service on Sunday, Sept. 29.
Website Ranks Gustavus Faculty in Top 20 Nationwide
Earlier this week the website RateMyProfessors.com released its list of the 25 colleges and universities across the nation that have the best professors. Gustavus, which came in at number 16 on the list, was the only Minnesota school included, and joined schools such as Duke University, Stanford University, Cornell University, and Washington University in St. Louis on the list.
Rasmussen’s Black Aperture on National Book Award Longlist
Visiting Professor of English and 1998 Gustavus Adolphus College graduate Matt Rasmussen has been named to the 2013 National Book Award Longlist for Poetry for his debut collection of poems titled Black Aperture. The list of 10 books was announced on Tuesday, Sept, 17 by the National Book Foundation.
Five Recent Alumni Start Year of Service with Lutheran Volunteer Corps
Five recent Gustavus Adolphus College graduates are among the 138 volunteers that recently began their year of service in 14 different cities across the country through Lutheran Volunteer Corps (LVC). Benjamin Batz ’12, Dan Burnett ’13, Elizabeth Logas ’13, and Ben Whalen ’13 are all serving in Minneapolis, while Brin Bailey ’13 is serving in Seattle, Wash.
Nobel Conference Preview Lecture Features Professor S. James Gates

Megan Wika '14 completed a geographic information systems internship at Barr Engineering in Minneapolis this summer. The experience helped the geography and environmental studies double major to define her career path.

Author Tori Murden McClure to Speak at Gustavus
Author, Antarctic explorer, and current college president Tori Murden McClure will speak at Gustavus Adolphus College at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19 in Christ Chapel. Murden McClure is the author of A Pearl in the Storm, which is the College’s Reading in Common book for 2013-14 academic year.
Gustavus Jumps Up in U.S. News Liberal Arts Rankings
Gustavus Adolphus College moved up nine spots to No. 76 in this year’s list of Best National Liberal Arts Colleges put out by U.S. News & World Report. The rankings were made public online on Tuesday, September 10.
