Forensics Team Wins NFA National Title

The Gustavus Adolphus College forensics team took first place in the President's Division II team standings at the National Forensic Association's National Tournament April 19-23 at Ohio University. The Gusties also placed ninth in the Open Sweepstakes team standings to record the program's first ever top 10 finish at the tournament.

Books in Bloom is May 4-6

For the second straight year, Gustavus Library Associates (GLA) will host Books in Bloom at the Folke Bernadotte Memorial Library on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College. This year’s event will take place May 4-6 and is free and open to the public.

Diversity Week Themed “Be the Change: Act! Now”

Gustavus Adolphus College’s annual Diversity Week is scheduled for April 23-27 and is themed “Be the Change: Act! Now.” A week’s worth of events will conclude with the annual Diversity Awards Banquet at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 27 in Alumni Hall.

Gustavus Names Laurie Kelly Head Women’s Basketball Coach

Gustavus Adolphus College has named Laurie Trow Kelly the new head coach of its women’s basketball program. Kelly, a 1993 graduate of the University of St. Thomas with a major in speech communications, is replacing Mickey Haller, who resigned in March after serving as the head coach for 12 years.

Multicultural Sweden is the Topic for 32nd MAYDAY! Peace Conference

Celebrated Swedish journalist and author Dilsa Demirbag-Sten and award-winning Swedish novelist and playwright Jonas Hassen Khemiri will keynote the 32nd annual MAYDAY! Peace Conference at Gustavus Adolphus College on Wednesday, May 2. In honor of the College’s Sesquicentennial, this year’s conference is titled “Multicultural Sweden,” and will explore multiculturalism and social justice in our increasingly global society.

Gustavus to Host Relay For Life Event

Colleges Against Cancer will host the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraiser, Relay For Life, at Gustavus Adolphus College April 20-21. More than 30 teams and 330 individuals who have already raised more than $25,000 for the charity are registered to participate in the event.

Tibet Native to Share Story in Alumni Hall

The Gustavus Adolphus College International Cultures Club will host “The Tibetan Story,” at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 21 in Alumni Hall. Wangyal Ritzekura, a native of Tibet who came to Minnesota in 1992 as part of the United States Tibetan Resettlement Project, will be the featured speaker.

Childcare Center Expands to Gustavus Campus

St. Peter Community Childcare Center (SPCCC), Gustavus Adolphus College, and the City of Saint Peter are pleased to announce the expansion of St. Peter Community Childcare Center with an additional classroom site, to be located on the campus of Gustavus.

When Gustavus commenced its annual Spring Break from March 30 to April 7, 94 students traveled to three different locations across the country to participate in a Habitat for Humanity service trip. Watch this video to learn more about those service trips.
