Alumnus to Represent Minnesota Twins on MLB Network Game Show

Craig Nordquist, a 2011 graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College, will be representing the Minnesota Twins organization when the MLB Network airs a new trivia-based game show this week called “Baseball IQ.”

Jackson Katz to Give 2012 Moe Lecture

Dr. Jackson Katz, internationally known for his groundbreaking work in gender violence prevention education in schools, the sports culture, and the military, will deliver the 2012 Moe Lecture in Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 14 in Alumni Hall. Katz’s lecture is titled “The Macho Paradox: Why Some Men Hurt Women and How All Men Can Help.”

Lind-Ayres to Deliver Transfiguration Talks

The Rev. Justin Lind-Ayres, a 1999 graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College, will deliver the College’s annual “Transfiguration Talks” on Feb. 20-21, during daily chapel services at 10 a.m. Rev. Lind-Ayres’ talks are titled “Clouded Vision” (Feb. 20) and “Be Afraid” (Feb. 21) and will center around the text in Mark 9:2-9.

Rev. Carl O. Nelson Receives the Gustavus Medal

Reverend Carl O. Nelson became the first recipient of the Gustavus Medal when the honor was bestowed upon him by President Jack R. Ohle during a ceremony in late December.

Laura Burnett-Kurie Named Head Women’s Soccer Coach

Gustavus Adolphus College has named Laura Burnett-Kurie the new head coach of its women’s soccer program. Burnett-Kurie, a 2008 graduate of Hobart and William Smith Colleges (N.Y.), is replacing Mike Stehlik, who resigned at the conclusion of the 2011 season after serving as the head coach of the women’s soccer program for 22 years.
