The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s tennis team is set to take on defending National Champion Williams College in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championship at 1 p.m. Central Time Tuesday, May 25 Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Gustavus Adolphus College senior Mary Cunningham has been chosen by a committee of faculty, staff, and students to speak at the College’s commencement ceremony Sunday, May 30. Cunningham will graduate with a degree in Communication Studies and History.

Gustavus Adolphus College Assistant Professor of Chemistry Brandy Russell has been accepted to attend the Project Kaleidoscope (PKAL) Summer Leadership Institute for Early Career Faculty.

Peg O’Connor, professor of philosophy and gender, women, and sexuality studies, received the 2010 Faculty Scholarly Achievement Award in early May at the College’s Honors Day Convocation.

Gustavus Adolphus College junior Kristin Schwagerl will have the opportunity to work alongside noted paleoanthropologist and 2008 Nobel Conference lecturer Curtis Marean during the 2010 Fall Semester.

At 2 p.m. Sunday, May 30, approximately 600 seniors will receive their bachelor of arts degrees from Gustavus Adolphus College during commencement exercises at Hollingsworth Field. In the case of inclement weather, the ceremonies will be moved indoors to the Lund Center for Physical Education and Health.

Kristofer Kracht, an instructor in the communication studies department and the director of the Gustavus Adolphus College forensics program, received the 2010 Swenson-Bunn Memorial Award for Teaching Excellence at the College’s Honors Day convocation in early May.

The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s golf team placed second at the 2010 Division III NCAA Championships on Friday, May 14 at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.

The Spring 2010 issue of Firethorne – the student literary and graphic arts magazine at Gustavus Adolphus College – will be unveiled Friday, May 14 at 6 p.m. in the Courtyard Café, located on the lower level of the C. Charles Jackson Campus Center.

Gustavus Adolphus College women’s golf coach Scott Moe has been named the Division III National Coach of the Year by the National Golf Coaches Association. This is the third time Moe has received this honor.
