Five alumni and one professor from Gustavus Adolphus College were elected to the Minnesota state legislature by voters on Tuesday, Nov. 2.
Mindy Greiling ’70 was re-elected to a tenth term in the Minnesota House of Representatives. Greiling represents district 54A, which includes the cities of Roseville, Lauderdale, and St. Anthony Village. Greiling holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Gustavus.
David Hann ’73 was re-elected to a third term in the Minnesota Senate. Hann represents senate district 42, which includes the western Minneapolis suburbs of Eden Prairie and Minnetonka. Hann holds a bachelor’s degree in religion from Gustavus.
Paul Torkelson ’74 was re-elected to a second term in the house as he ran unopposed in district 21B. The district includes the cities of New Ulm, St. James, Madelia, Springfield, and Sleepy Eye among others. Torkelson holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Gustavus.
Kory Kath ’00 was re-elected to a second term in the house. Kath represents district 26A, which includes an area in southeastern Minnesota from Waseca to Owatonna. Kath holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and education from Gustavus.
Ted Lillie ’79 was elected to his first term in the senate. Lillie will represent district 56, which includes the communities of Bayport, Lake Elmo, Oak Park Heights, Woodbury, part of Stillwater, and others. Lillie holds a bachelor’s degree in management from Gustavus.
Along with the five alumni who were elected on Nov. 2, Gustavus Professor of Communication Studies Terry Morrow was re-elected to a third term in district 23A. The district includes the cities of St. Peter, North Mankato, Winthrop, Gaylord, and Nicollet among others. Morrow has taught at the College since 1995.
