Anna Versluis, assistant professor of geography at Gustavus Adolphus College, will give a free public lecture regarding the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti at 7 p.m. Monday, March 15 in Alumni Hall, located in the O.J. Johnson Student Union.

Versluis, who spent several years living in Port-au-Prince before joining the Gustavus Geography Department, recently spent a week in Haiti conducting research on the extent and impact of familial and neighborly aid following the Jan. 12 earthquake that devastated the small island country.

In her lecture, Versluis will describe what she learned about the aftermath of the earthquake and will also share stories from Haitians living in the displaced persons “tent camps.” Versluis will also show photos and video clips she took while in Haiti.

The lecture is being sponsored by the Gustavus Latin American, Latino & Caribbean Studies (LALACS) Department. For more information about this free public lecture, contact Associate Professor of Spanish and LALACS Nancy Hanway at nhanway@gustavus.edu.
