New Faces Fill the Provost’s Office

There are three new faces in the Office of the Provost as the 2009-10 academic year begins. On June 1, David Fienen was named Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. In late June, Fienen announced that John J. Clementson and Barbara Kaiser had been appointed to Interim Associate Provost roles.

Gustavus Looks Ahead to New Academic Year

Gustavus Adolphus College will begin its 148th academic year Tuesday, Sept. 8 when classes commence for the College’s 2,500 full-time students. Approximately 630 first-year students are enrolled at Gustavus this fall.

Gustavus Moves Up Eight Places in U.S. News Rankings

Gustavus Adolphus College is once again ranked among the top 100 liberal arts colleges in the nation in U.S. News and World Report’s annual college rankings. Gustavus moved up eight places from last year’s rankings to 80th on the magazine’s “Best Liberal Arts College’s” list.

The Gustavus Adolphus College Athletics Department has chosen nine individuals for induction into its Athletics Hall of Fame. The 2009 inductees include Kerri Pool Foss ’94, Dan Dohmeier ’86, Bob Klindworth ’93, Leisha Johnson Ronning ’90, C.J. Page ’91, Scott Anderson ’92, Jon Lindquist ’92, Amy McCrea Morrell ’91, and Steve Wilkinson.

Gustavus Adolphus College is once again a Best College in The Princeton Review’s college ranking guidebook, The Best 371 Colleges. Also, Gustavus again made the Best Campus Food list. These annual rankings are based solely on input from college students.

Since its founding, the Minnesota Fringe Festival has featured the work of hundreds of Gustavus Theatre & Dance students, alumni and faculty. This year is no exception, with a number of performances by alumni and current students across the 11-day festival.
