Firethorne to Unveil Fall Issue at Tuesday Night Release Party

The Fall 2009 issue of Firethorne – the student literary and graphic arts magazine at Gustavus Adolphus College – will be unveiled Tuesday, Dec. 8 at a release party from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Courtyard Café, located on the lower level of the C. Charles Jackson Campus Center.

Michael Johnson Returns to Gustavus Dec. 11

Michael Johnson, the singer, song-writer, storyteller, and guitarist who has delighted audiences at Gustavus Adolphus College annually for forty years, returns to Björling Recital Hall, Friday, Dec. 11, at 8:00 p.m. This performance on the Gustavus campus is the only performance the national recording artist will present in southern Minnesota this season.

Free Student H1N1 Vaccine Clinic Dec. 7

Gustavus Adolphus College students are encouraged to come to Alumni Hall, located on the upper level of the O.J. Johnson Student Union, on Monday, Dec. 7 between 1 and 6:30 p.m. or until supplies last to receive a free H1N1 flu vaccine.

Author and Activist Kevin Winge to Speak at Gustavus

Author, nonprofit executive, and activist Kevin Winge will present a public lecture, titled "Nourishing Social Change: Everyday Acts that Impact the World," at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7 in the Heritage Room, located in the C. Charles Jackson Campus Center.

Physical Theatre Project Performances Begin Dec. 10

The Department of Theatre and Dance at Gustavus Adolphus College is pleased to present the Physical Theatre Project directed by Henry MacCarthy. The performances of this exciting production will be held in the department’s black box, December 10, 11, and 12 at 8:00 p.m. and December 13 at 2:00 p.m. There are 49 tickets available per performance.

Ridley Named First Team Academic All-American

Gustavus Adolphus College football player T.J. Ridley has been named a First Team Academic All-America honoree by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Forensics Team Sweeps Tournaments at Concordia

The Gustavus Adolphus College forensics team traveled north to Concordia College in Moorhead on Nov. 21-22 for the first and second Valley Forensics League Tournaments of the year. The team came home to St. Peter with plenty of hardware after winning 16 of the 22 events as well as the team sweepstakes for both tournaments.

69th Annual Festival of St. Lucia

Gustavus Adolphus College will celebrate its 69th annual Festival of St. Lucia at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10 in Christ Chapel. As a part of this seasonal tradition, six sophomore women have been chosen to serve on the Lucia court.

Alumnus Kurt Elling Performs at White House

Gustavus Adolphus College alumnus and Grammy nominated jazz vocalist Kurt Elling has toured the world, performing to critical acclaim in Europe, the Middle East, South America, Asia, and Australia, and at jazz festivals and concert halls across North America. Now Elling can add the White House to that list.

Gustavus Prepares for Christmas in Christ Chapel

The annual Christmas in Christ Chapel celebration at Gustavus Adolphus College will be held Dec. 4-6. This year’s service is themed “Letters & Carols” and will include music, scripture, and biblical and historic letters from across the centuries which have added to the wonder and delight of the seasons of Advent and Christmas.
