Gustavus Receives $310,000 Instrumentation Grant
Gustavus Adolphus College recently received a $310,000 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to purchase a Polytec Scanning Laser Doppler Vibrometer to support the research program of Professor of Physics Tom Huber.

Gustavus Receives $155,000 National Science Foundation Grant
Gustavus Adolphus College recently received a three-year $155,000 curriculum development grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF), entitled “Integrating Sustainability Across and Within the Science Curriculum.” While this initiative involves a wide range of faculty, core project faculty include Chuck Niederriter (lead author, Physics), Colleen Jacks (Biology), and Jeff Jeremiason (Chemistry, Environmental Studies).
Gustavus Employee Earns College Degree at Age 70
Gustavus Adolphus College Dining Service employee Steve Brown recently received his undergraduate degree from Minnesota State, Mankato at the age of 70.

Chester O. Johnson, a professor emeritus of geology at Gustavus Adolphus College, died Tuesday evening. He was 96.
Fox Crowned St. Lucia
Gustavus Adolphus College crowned sophomore Jennifer Fox as the 2009 St. Lucia during the College’s 69th annual Festival of St. Lucia Thursday, Dec. 10.
Forensics Team Takes Second at UW-Stout Tournament
The Gustavus Adolphus College forensics team finished its fall semester schedule with a second place showing the 44th annual Michael Nicolai Collegiate Forensics Tournament at the University of Wisconsin-Stout on Dec. 4-5.
Thorstensson Awarded H.M. The King’s Medal from Sweden
Gustavus Adolphus College Professor of Scandinavian Studies Roland Thorstensson is the latest employee of the College to be honored by the Royal Court of Sweden. Thorstensson will be awarded H.M. (His Majesty) The King’s Medal by the King and Queen of Sweden when he travels to Stockholm in late January.
Half Court Buzzer Beater Lifts Men’s Basketball Team to Victory
The Gustavus Adolphus College men's basketball team beat Concordia College 57-54 in overtime on Saturday, Dec. 5 when junior guard Phil Wirtjes hit a shot from just beyond half court as time expired.
