History Professor to Give Lecture on China

Dr. Liping Wang, associate professor of history at the University of Minnesota will speak at Gustavus Adolphus College at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 15. Wang's visit is part of the College's Global Insight program and is free and open to the public.

Sophomore Named a Phillips Scholar

Gustavus Adolphus College sophomore Laura Jensen has been named a Jay and Rose Phillips Family Foundation Scholarship recipient for 2009-10 and 2010-11.

Relay for Life Set for April 17

Gustavus Adolphus College will hold its sixth annual Relay for Life event from 7 p.m. Friday, April 17 to 7 a.m. Saturday, April 18 in Lund Center. Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society's signature activity designed to spread awareness of cancer prevention, celebrate survivorship, and raise money for cancer research.

Gustavus Chooses Reading in Common Book

Gustavus Adolphus College has selected Enrique's Journey by Sonia Nazario as its Reading in Common book for the 2009-10 academic year. The book recounts the odyssey of a Honduran boy who endures hardship and peril to find his mother in the United States.

Conference to Focus on Tiananmen Square Anniversary

The 29th annaul MAYDAY! Peace Conference will take place Wednesday, April 29 with a theme of "Tiananmen +20 Years." This year's conference will reflect on life in China, 20 years after the protest and massacre at Tiananmen Square in 1989.

Triathlon to Benefit Juvenile Diabetes

A triathlon will be held at Gustavus Adolphus College Saturday, April 25th to benefit juvenile diabetes through Triabetes, a project of Insulindependence.

Gustavus to Host Association of Congregations Convention

The 22nd annual convention of the Gustavus Adolphus College Association of Congregations will be held Saturday, April 25. Gustavus will host pastors and delegates from the 539 Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) congregations that are current members of the association.

Choir of Christ Chapel Tour

The Choir of Christ Chapel of Gustavus Adolphus College will embark on its annual tour April 16-19. The tour includes concert dates in three states, including Iowa and Wisconsin.
