68th Annual Festival of St. Lucia

Gustavus Adolphus College will celebrate its 68th annual Festival of St. Lucia at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11 in Christ Chapel. As a part of this seasonal tradition, six sophomore women have been chosen to serve on the Lucia court.

Coneflower Prairie Project Moves Forward

In 2007, the Linnaeus Arboretum at Gustavus Adolphus College received a grant from the Carl and Verna Schmidt Foundation to help develop a new 70-acre prairie on the west side of the arboretum. The development of the new "Coneflower Prairie" took a significant step forward earlier this fall when the planting process was initiated by Feder's Prairie Seed Co. of Blue Earth, Minn.

New Exhibitions Now Open at Hillstrom Museum of Art

The Hillstrom Museum of Art at Gustavus Adolphus College will host two new exhibitions from Monday, Nov. 24 to Friday, Jan. 30. Illusion and Certainty (Paintings by Martin Weinstein) will be on display concurrently with Come On!: American Posters from World War I.

Gustavus Prepares for Christmas in Christ Chapel

The annual Christmas in Christ Chapel celebration at Gustavus Adolphus College will be held December 5-7. This year's service is themed "Joyeux Noel: A Feast of French Music, Art, and Culture."

Theatre Adds Performance of <i>The Lesson</i>

The Department of Theatre and Dance at Gustavus Adolphus College has announced it is adding a midnight performance on Friday, Nov. 21 of its latest production, Eugene Ionesco's comic drama The Lesson.

Book Drive to Benefit Children in Uganda

A book drive organized in association with the annual Building Bridges Conference at Gustavus Adolphus College is underway at the College and in the cities of St. Peter and North Mankato. Books will be collected until mid-January when they will be sold online with proceeds going to the non-profit group Invisible Children.

History Professor Receives Honor From King of Sweden

Byron Nordstrom, professor of history and Scandinavian studies at Gustavus Adolphus College, was awarded the insignia of Commander in the Royal Order of the Polar Star on Friday, Nov. 8 from Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf.

Linnaeus Arboretum to Host Annual Fall Warmer

The Gustavus Adolphus College Linnaeus Arboretum will host its annual Fall Warmer at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16. The public is invited to attend.
