  • Linnaeus Symposium Will Celebrate Swedish Botanist

    Gustavus Adolphus College will hold its second Linnaeus Symposium on April 25. This year’s event, titled “Linnaeus @ 300,” was planned to correspond with the 300th anniversary of the birth of Carl Linnaeus, the Swedish botanist for whom the Gustavus arboretum is named.

  • Revised Museum Hours at Gustavus

    In conjunction with Spring Break at Gustavus Adolphus College, the school’s Hillstrom Museum of Art will be open limited hours. During the break, which runs from Friday, March 30 through Sunday, April 8, the Hillstrom Museum’s hours will be limited to 1—4 p.m. from Monday, April 2 through Thursday, April 5.

  • Gustavus Student Receives National Honors

    Gustavus Adolphus College senior Alex Zupan has been named a USA Today All-USA College Academic All-Star. In addition to being one of 60 students in the nation named to this list, Zupan was also recently honored with a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Postgraduate Scholarship.   • Author Ehrenreich to Speak at Gustavus

    Gustavus Adolphus College will host social critic and author Barbara Ehrenreich, who wrote the nationally renowned book Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting by in America (2001). The highlight of Ehrenreich’s visit will be a public lecture at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24 in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall.

  • NFL Player Utecht to Speak at Proclaim

    Minnesota native and member of the Super Bowl-winning Indianapolis Colts Ben Utecht will give his faith testimonial at 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 27 at Proclaim — student-led, contemporary style worship at Gustavus Adolphus College. The event is free of charge and will take place in Alumni Hall, located in the O.J. Johnson Student Union.

  • Gustavus names Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

    By unanimous vote, the trustees of Gustavus Adolphus College on March 19 approved the appointment of Mary E. Morton, Ph.D., as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, effective July 1, 2007.

  • Gustavus Student Receives Fulbright Scholarship

    Gustavus Adolphus College senior Erica Duin has been granted a Fulbright Scholarship for the 2007-08 academic year. Duin, a native of Hastings, Minn., will take classes at Al Akhawayn University and conduct research on water resource management in the Sebou River Basin in Morocco.

  • Gustavus Choir of Christ Chapel Announces Concert Tour

    The Gustavus Adolphus College Choir of Christ Chapel will set out on a three-day concert tour Friday, April 20 to Sunday, April 22. The choir will also sing a home concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 27 in Christ Chapel.

  • Gustavus Jazz Lab Band Announces Concert Tour

    The Gustavus Adolphus College Jazz Lab Band will embark on a six-day, five-stop concert tour beginning Friday, March 30 and ending Wednesday, April 4. The ensemble will also play a home concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 14 at Jussi Björling Recital Hall.
