Dancing Contest, Online Auction to Benefit United Way

Gustavus Adolphus College will host its second annual charity fundraiser “Dancing With the Profs” at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 2 and host a new two-day online service auction, both benefiting the St. Peter United Way.

Gustavus Adolphus College will host its second annual charity fundraiser “Dancing With the Profs” at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 2 in Alumni Hall. The event will feature six teams of Gustavus staff members and students who will compete against each other in front of a panel of judges. In conjunction with the dance event will be an online service auction, where people may bid on services provided by members of the Gustavus community and beyond.

The six dancing teams received lessons from the Gustavus Swing Club and consist of one staff member and one student. They are:

  • John Clementson (Education) and Katelyn Johnson (Sophomore)
  • Patricia Kazarow (Music) and John Bennetts (Junior)
  • Megan Ruble (Student Activities) and Luke Garrison (Junior)
  • Carolyn Dobler (Mathematics & Computer Science) and Jordan Hawkinson (Senior)
  • Aaron Banks (Health & Exercise Science) and Carlie Mauss (Senior)
  • Scott Moe (Health & Exercise Science) and Justine Moses (Senior)
  • The online service auction starts at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2 and closes at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4 and is open to Gustavus students and employees only. It may be accessed at www.gustavus.edu/groups/unitedway.
This auction event was coordinated by the Gustavus Campus Activities Board.

Last year’s “Dancing With the Profs” event raised more than $1,600 for the American Red Cross, benefiting victims of tornadoes that hit Southern Minnesota last August. This year’s proceeds will go to the St. Peter United Way, which is involved in sponsoring the Big Partner, Little Partner program at Gustavus, St. Peter’s Habitat for Humanity group, and several other organizations that impact the St. Peter community.

Tickets for the dance are $2 for Gustavus students and employees and $4 for the general public. Tickets may be purchased at the door or from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 29 — Nov. 2 outside the Evelyn Young Dining Room in the C. Charles Jackson Campus Center.
