Gustavus Professor Named Associate Provost at Cornish College of the Arts

Gustavus Adolphus College Associate Professor of German Jenifer Ward has been named Associate Provost at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Wash. Ward leaves Gustavus after joining the faculty in 1995. She will begin her new duties at Cornish on July 15.

Braun Accepts Position at Augustana College

Gustavus Adolphus College Associate Dean Mark Braun has been appointed Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D. Braun will begin his new duties on August 1.

Gustavus Chooses Reading in Common Book

Gustavus Adolphus College has selected Mountains Beyond Mountains: The Quest of Dr. Paul Farmer, a Man Who Would Cure the World by Tracy Kidder as its Reading in Common book for 2007-08. A non-fiction narrative, the book follows Farmer from his work at Harvard University to work across the globe in Haiti, Russia, and other countries.

Gustavus Alumna Receives Prestigious Fellowship

Gustavus alumna Kelly Younge was recently awarded a National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship. Younge graduated from Gustavus in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in physics, and is currently in the doctoral program in physics at the University of Michigan.

Gustavus Theatre presents the <i>Tempest</i>

Gustavus Adolphus College's Theatre and Dance Department will present the Tempest from May 9-12. The production coincides with the 75th anniversary of theatre at the college, along with a farewell to Professor of Theatre and Dance Dr. Rob Gardner, who is retiring from full-time teaching at the college this year.

Annual Gustavus Honors Day Recognizes Student Achievements

On Saturday, May 5, Gustavus Adolphus College will host Honors Day, an annual event that recognizes the academic excellence and achievements of students. This year, nearly 700 students will be recognized.
