Gustavus Undamaged by Storm, Students Help

The Gustavus Adolphus College campus was undamaged by yesterday's (Aug. 24) storms. Students who are on campus for athletic practice or residence-hall training are helping with clean-up efforts in the area.

Gustavus Again Ranked with Liberal Arts Colleges

Gustavus Adolphus College is once again ranked among the top liberal arts colleges in the nation by U.S. News and World Report's annual college rankings. Gustavus is one of six Minnesota colleges in the top 100 national liberal arts colleges for overall quality.

$1 Million Gift for Music Scholarships

This week, Gustavus Adolphus College received a gift in excess of $1 million to endowed music scholarships from Walter L. Youngquist '42 of Eugene, Ore., in honor of his wife, Elizabeth Pearson Youngquist '42.

NYSP Returns to Gustavus

For the third consecutive year Gustavus Adolphus College is hosting the National Youth Sports Program (NYSP). This year's NYSP at Gustavus will be a three-week academic and athletic enrichment program for 170 youth ages 10-16 from low-income families living within a 45-mile radius of St. Peter. It runs from July 10 through July 29.

First-year Students Register for Classes

The Gustavus Adolphus College Class of 2010 began course registration this week (June 20-22). Each student comes to campus and meets with a faculty member to discuss course options and possible degree plans.

Gustavus Hurricane Relief Efforts Continue

Two Gustavus seniors, Rosemary Shultz and Jennifer Patnode, organized a collect effort for blankets and quilts to aid people in southern Mississippi. The project collected an estimated 70,000 square feet of blankets and towels exceeding their goal of 48,000 square feet (Mississippi is approximately 48,000 square miles) to "Cover Mississippi."

Saulnier Wins Distinguished Teaching Award

Paul Saulnier, professor of physics at Gustavus Adolphus College, received the 2006 Edgar M. Carlson Award for Distinguished Teaching during the College's commencement ceremony on May 28.

Gustavus Hosts Convocation of Teaching Theologians of the ELCA

A Convocation of Teaching Theologians of the ELCA will be held Aug.11-13, 2006 at Gustavus Adolphus College.

Commencement Exercises May 28 at Gustavus

On Sunday, May 28, 596 seniors received bachelor of arts degrees from Gustavus Adolphus College during commencement exercises on Hollingsworth Stadium.
