Gustavus Adolphus College recently named Teresa Harland as the new associate vice president for advancement.

The position was created in a recent restructuring at the college, and will include supervision of Advancement Services, Alumni Relations, and the Gustavus Fund.

This role is significant due to the ever-increasing need for funds related to general operating expenses, endowments, scholarships, and other budgeting priorities at the college. One of Harland’s first tasks will be achieving the $2 million goal set for the Gustavus Fund for general operating expenses.

“Creating more meaningful ways of engaging alumni, parents, and friends in the life of the College,” Harland stresses, “will lead to more interaction and financial success.”

Harland attained her undergraduate degree from Gustavus in 1994 and her M.A. in counseling from Minnesota State University, Mankato, in 2005. She started her career at Gustavus in the admission office, successively advancing through positions as an admission counselor, assistant director, associate director of admission, and international admission coordinator. Since 2001, she has been a member of the Institutional Advancement staff as director of gift planning.
