    Gustavus has selected Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates as the 2016-2017 Reading in Common book. Now in its 17th year, the Reading in Common program seeks to ignite conversation around relevant topics and provide a shared experience for the incoming first-year class.

    Gustavus Adolphus College will welcome author John Pomfret to campus Monday, Sept. 15. Pomfret, the author of this year’s Reading in Common book, Chinese Lessons: Five Classmates and the Story of the New China, will speak at 7 p.m. in Christ Chapel.

  • Gustavus Chooses Reading in Common Book

    Gustavus Adolphus College has selected Chinese Lessons: Five Classmates and the Story of the New China by John Pomfret as its Reading in Common book for the 2008-09 academic year. The book recounts the lives of several of Pomfret’s former classmates at Nanjing University in order to examine China’s tumultuous history and promising future.

  • Honky Author to Speak Sept. 20

    The public is invited to hear Dalton Conley, author of Honky, speak at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20 in Christ Chapel at Gustavus Adolphus College. Honky is this year’s Gustavus Reading in Common book as well as the featured book for the Unity in Community—St. Peter Reads program. This event is free.
