Gustavus Adolphus College will host its third annual charity fundraiser “Dancing With the Profs” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1 in Alumni Hall, located in the O.J. Johnson Student Union.
Inspired by the popular show Dancing With the Stars, “Dancing With the Profs” features five teams consisting of a Gustavus staff member and a Gustavus student. The duos have a few short weeks to learn a swing dance and then perform it in front of a live audience and a panel of judges. Last year the event attracted an audience of more than 500 people and raised more than $5,000 for the St. Peter United Way.
This year’s teams are as follows:
- Cassandra Nelson (Student Affairs) and Kevin Horn (Senior)
- Kyhl Thomson (Dining Services) and Marissa Schon (Senior)
- Jeff Rosoff (Mathematics & Computer Science) and Alicia Cameron (Senior)
- Brian Johnson (Chaplains’ Office) and Kimberly Braun (Sophomore)
- Andrea Gross (Theatre & Dance) and David Kreft (Sophomore)
In addition to ticket sales, funds will be raised through a coin drive at the ticket sales table and a raffle with prize packages valued between $20 and $55. Donations will also be accepted the night of the event. All proceeds will again be given to the St. Peter United Way.
Tickets for the event are $3 for Gustavus students and employees and $5 for the general public. Tickets may be purchased at the door or from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 27-31 at a table inside the Evelyn Young Dining Room in the C. Charles Jackson Campus Center. Tickets are also available through the St. Peter United Way.
“Dancing With the Profs” is sponsored by the Campus Activities Board, GAC TV, and the Gustavus Swing Club. For more information about this event, contact Gustavus student John Rasmussen at jrasmus2@gustavus.edu.
