Virtual Honors Convocation Set for This Saturday

The College’s annual Honors Convocation will celebrate the accomplishments of Gustavus students online due to COVID-19.

Every spring, Gustavus Adolphus College highlights the academic and co-curricular leadership and success of its students at Honors Convocation. With this year’s disruption to the academic calendar due to COVID-19, Saturday’s program has been moved online.

At 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, Honors Convocation will be streamed “live” on the Gustavus Honors Weekend website. The program, which will last approximately one hour, recognizes Gustavus students who were nominated for or received national, state, and College-level academic awards along with honors bestowed by the College for student leadership and co-curricular accomplishments.

Student Senate co-presidents Monali Bhakta and Karrie Villarreal will also present the Swenson-Bunn Memorial Award for Teaching Excellence, which honors a faculty member whose teaching is seen as exceptional by the student body.

Watch at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 2.

Some academic departments will host virtual receptions following Honors Convocation.
