Gustavus Adolphus College will celebrate commencement on Saturday, June 2, as 521 members of the Gustavus Class of 2018 receive their degrees at Hollingsworth Field.

The ceremony will open with a musical prelude featuring the Gustavus Wind Orchestra under the direction of Dr. James Patrick Miller at 1:30 p.m, with graduates processing into the stadium at 1:45 p.m. The 2018 commencement speaker is Megan Johnson, a graduating English and history major from Blaine, Minn., who will serve as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Vietnam next year.

For those who cannot attend, commencement will be streamed live online.

In the case of inclement weather an announcement will be made by 10 a.m. that commencement will be moved to the Lund Center Arena. If commencement is held inside, each graduate has been issued three tickets that will permit guests to view the ceremony from seating in the arena. Additional guests are welcome to view the ceremony via simulcast on the Gus Young Court (Lund Center) or in the Evelyn Anderson Dining Room (Jackson Campus Center). Tickets beyond three per graduate will not be available due to space constraints.

Following commencement, academic departments will host receptions on the Eckman Mall.

Throughout the day, graduates, families, and guests are encouraged to post on social media using #Gusties18 to share pictures and memories.
