Gustavus Adolphus College will begin its 146th academic year Tuesday, Sept. 4 when classes commence for the college’s 2,500 full-time students. Approximately 680 first-year students are enrolled at Gustavus this fall.
Move-in day for first-year students is Friday, Aug. 31 and first-year orientation will run Aug. 31-Sept. 3 with activities including:
– An opening convocation for students and families at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31;
– The annual President’s Banquet at 5 p.m. followed by the traditional square dance at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1;
– The annual “E Pluribus Gustavus” diversity presentation to discuss transition and difference in lifestyles, social issues, and environmental changes at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2;
– Academic success sessions in the afternoon on Monday, Sept. 3;
– A back-to-school bash featuring live music and picnic-style dinner at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3.

President Jim Peterson will welcome all students and staff back to campus with an opening convocation at 10 a.m. Tuesday Sept. 4 in Christ Chapel. The public is invited.
