Meet New Director of Residential Life Charlie Potts ‘01 Posted on June 30th, 2011 by

On Friday, June 24, Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students JoNes VanHecke announced that Charlie Potts had accepted the position of Director of Residential Life at Gustavus Adolphus College.

Potts is a Saint Peter native and a 2001 graduate of Gustavus. He also holds a M.A. in educational policy and administration in higher education from the University of Minnesota and is currently pursuing his Ed.D. in organizational leadership, policy and development in higher education from the U of M.

Since 2007, Potts has served as Associate Director of Residential Life at St. Olaf College in Northfield. His responsibilities in that position included supervising six staff members, overseeing the residence hall student staff program, advising 10 on-campus honor houses, and adjudicating on-campus conduct cases.

Prior to his most recent position at St. Olaf, Potts served for one year (2006-07) as the Associate Director of Campus Life at the University of St. Thomas, and two years (2004-2006) as Area Coordinator at St. Olaf.

Potts has served on the Gustavus Alumni Board of Directors since Sept. 2009 and has also previously served as a youth coach at the Gustie Basketball & Leadership Camp.

Potts will officially begin his duties at Gustavus on July 25.

Potts is married to Angie Peterson Potts ’04. The couple has two-year-old twin boys, Ethan and Owen.
